CFO Controller Construction Washington DC Metropolitan area We are current looking for an experienced CFO or Controller for a long time Client. This position will be in the Washington DC market. Job Summary: s the CFO/Controller, you are responsible for overseeing all financial operations, from project cost accounting to financial reporting. This role demands a keen understanding of the financial dynamics specific to commercial construction, including project-based accounting, cost management, and compliance with construction financial regulations. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the financial management of construction projects, ensuring accurate project costing, billing, and budget management. Manage the complete cycle of accounting activities, ensuring all financial operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements and company policies. Coordinate with project managers to track financial progress against budgets, identifying variances and initiating corrective actions. Develop financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identifying monetary resources; and developing action plans. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, tailored for stakeholders within the construction industry. Maintain strong relationships with external entities such as banks, auditors, and tax preparers, ensuring compliance and timely completion of audits and tax filings. Implement and oversee robust financial controls and systems, enhancing transparency and reducing financial risks in construction projects. Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA highly preferred. Minimum of 8 years of financial management experience, specifically within the commercial construction industry. Deep understanding of construction accounting software, job cost accounting practices, and revenue recognition principles. Proficient in financial forecasting, risk management, and handling multiple project budgets. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues and stakeholders. Exceptional analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills. Work Environment: This full-time, onsite position is based in the Washington DC Metro area. The role requires occasional visits to project sites to provide financial oversight and support to project teams. Compensation and Benefits: competitive salary range of $150-180k is offered, reflective of experience and industry standards.
