Overview Sign-On/Retention Bonus of $2500 As anApheresis Technicianat the Blood Donor Clinic, you will work directly with our donors to collect blood, plasma, or platelets for our D-H patients. This role requires formal phlebotomy training, and we provide comprehensive training in the entire donation process, from donor check-in and draws to processing the different blood products for the blood bank. We have full-time, day-shift positions available on this fantastic team. We understand the importance of work-life balance, so we will work with you to figure out the schedule that works best for you. This could include three 12-hour shifts or 4 9- or 10-hour shifts. Importantly, this position is Monday through Friday and does not require weekends or holidays. Responsibilities * Provides appropriate donor greeting and directs donor to read educational materials. * Performs donor interview, obtaining accurate and complete medical history information. * Determines donor suitability utilizing donor guideline manual and department reference materials. * Performs whole blood phlebotomy and automated apheresis donations. * Labels sample tubes and collection packs. Completes all records. Performspost-collection handling of products per FDA guidelines. * Prepares components from centrifugation, separation, mixing, labeling, and with accurate verification of records and data entry into computer system. * Using Current Good Manufacturing Practices, records the results of all procedures performed. * Performs appropriate Quality Control and Preventive Maintenance procedures. * Assists other Blood Donor Center staff in the management of reactions and medical emergencies. * Maintains equipment and stocks supplies. * Maintains complete confidentiality of donor information and records, as outlined by the DHMC Privacy/Confidentiality/HIPPA policies. * Knows and adheres to safety/infection control techniques. Qualifications * High school graduate or the equivalent required. * Formal phlebotomy training required. * Apheresis experience preferred. * 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred. * 1 year of medical/technical experience desired. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. * Proven work experience with the public. * Strong computer ability desired. * Applicant must be honest, dependable, able to multi-task, and be detail oriented.
