Summary Participates as part of a Network team whose job is to prevent healthcare-associated infections and the transmission of communicable diseases between the environment, patients, personnel, and visitors across the continuum of care. Facilitates quality, patient safety, and regulatory functions. Job Duties Performs detection, tabulation, evaluation, presentation, and/or control of infections occurring among hospital patients and personnel. Functions as a Network subject matter expert for all Infection Control and Prevention related issues across the continuum. Performs continuous surveillance of patients and/or personnel admitted with or acquiring infections during hospitalization. Determines the types of infections (HAIs or community-acquired) encountered and reports any increases or other significant findings to Director or Administrator Infection Control and Prevention. Assists with educational programs (orientation, in-service, continuing education, etc.). Assists with development and implementation of hospital-wide Infection Control and Prevention Program and antibiotic monitoring reviews. Collates data, analyzes attack rates, and compares with previous rates for presentation to Infection Control Committee. Reports potential communicable disease exposures to first responder organizations and state health bureau. Supports all Quality, Patient Safety, and Regulatory initiatives. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in nursing, medical technology, or related field. 5 years of experience in a clinical or microbiology setting with infection control and prevention policies. Knowledge of principles and practices of epidemiology. CIC - Certified in Infection Control CBINCEI - State of Pennsylvania within 2 Years RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania or MLT - Medical Laboratory Technologist ASCP - State of Pennsylvania or MLT - Medical Laboratory Technician AMT - State of Pennsylvania Physical Demands Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
