We're looking for an organized, self-motivated, and enthusiastic Life Skills Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate can provide direction and supervision to children in all aspects of daily living. A life skills trainer advises and assists the individuals that we care for. They are responsible for helping them learn, adapt, and develop skills such as: doing day-to-day tasks, interacting with other people, caring for themselves, as well as doing basic duties. Life Skills Trainer's salary: $21.50/hour . Responsibilities: A life skills instructor advises and assists the individuals that we care for You will be responsible for helping the individuals we support to learn, adapt, and develop skills such as: doing day-to-day tasks, interacting with other people, caring for themselves, as well as doing basic duties Assisting in daily living skills, following behavior plans, usage of schedules and other visual communications Applicants should be able to follow detailed instructions and willing to learn best practices for success when working with children with autism You will provide training, assistance, and supervision to individuals receiving care in the areas of living skills, therapeutic recreation, and other forms of assistance in both residential and community settings. You will assist with daily activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, shopping, cleaning, and medication administration. You will facilitate the working relationships between others and individuals served, and support community involvement by accompanying them on outings, or providing transportation to work or other activities. You will be working closely with other team members to support the therapeutic and behavioral plans in place for the individuals we support All staff will maintain compliance with the certification requirements, background checks, rules, and regulations of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the Department of Human Services (DHS) Requirements Qualifications: HS diploma/GED required (Bachelors in Psychology, Social Work, or other Human Services fields preferred) Minimum age 21 with valid IL driver's license and auto insurance required Reliable transportation and good driving record (No more than 2 moving violations in the last 5 years) Must be able to complete background checks and physicals At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities Salary Description $21.50/ Hour
