Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program. We are in search of new talent in the following position... Position: Purchasing Accountant (Hybrid Remote) The Purchasing Accountant assists in the administration of the Purchase Order system, Fixed Assets system, and provides user support. S/he acts as a purchasing liaison between programs and Finance to promote efficient and timely resolution of purchasing issues. S/he works with the Purchasing Manager to establish and achieve departmental goals in accordance with agency standards and timelines. Location: 135 West 50th Street •New York, NY 10020 Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with at least two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to communicate effectively, including in writing. Strong computer skills are required, including Excel. Purchasing Accountant Principal Responsibilities: Assist in the daily administration of the Purchase Order system. Provide both technical and procedural support to agency users for PO system. Coordinate technical issues, fixes, and enhancements with PO system provider. Become a "super user" and teacher. Assist in maintaining and managing user accounts, user controls and permissions, and approval rules. Monitor program purchasing, advise purchasers of proper vendors, pricing and purchasing practices. Assist in the administration of major accounts such as Home Depot, FedEx, Fleet Enterprise, and Wex Bank, including online purchasing systems and departmental invoicing. Obtain invoice statements from vendors monthly and ensure accuracy. Conduct quarterly program site visits and audits of Petty Cash, Metro Cards, van logbooks, etc. Assist in the administration of the agency's fixed assets program. Facilitate business office reconciliation of purchasing and fixed assets systems.
