Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world. The Civil Engineer, will be responsible for providing design, planning, and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. You will devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, and monitor work in compliance with applicable codes and accepted engineering practices. The Civil Engineer will be based at one of the military bases in Iraq. Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes and accepted engineering practices. Perform design work for new construction, renovations, and improvement projects. Interpret and adapt traditional methods and approaches in developing design calculations, layouts, drawings, and specifications that support project objectives and standards. Provide civil design services including preparation of civil/site work drawings, structural evaluations and designs. Perform construction management duties including reviewing construction documents and submittals, performing, documenting daily inspections, and assisting with project punch lists. Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. Qualifications to be successful in the role : Degree in Civil Engineering is desired. Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE) certification as a Certified Plant Engineer (CFE) or United States Coast Guard (USCG) Third Assistant Engineer of Steam, Motor or Gas Turbine License of any horsepower or a U.S. Stationary Engineers License is preferred. Must possess Top Secret security clearance or be able obtain one prior to being hired. Atleast 7 years of experience in design gained from engineering/construction management industry, operation of power plants, physical plants and building operations. Must have design experience with knowledge on preparation of civil/site work drawings, structural evaluations and plans, and water/sewer plans based on existing local utilities and facility load and use. Previous out of home country experience is highly desirable and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions is a plus. Knowledge of applicable U.S. Codes and accepted trade practices. Demonstrated working knowledge of physical plant and building operations for a comparable facility. Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects. Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and time management skills. Valid driver's license from home of record.
