Job Type: Officer of Administration Regular/Temporary: Regular Hours Per Week: 35 Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000 The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary The Columbia University School of General Studies (GS) is the finest liberal arts college in the United States dedicated to making Ivy League education accessible to nontraditional students. GS was founded in 1947 on the mission of expanding access to elite higher education, and it remains the most diverse college in the Ivy League, with many transfer, first-generation, and international students. GS students are fully integrated with Columbia's broader undergraduate population and are taught by Columbia's celebrated faculty. The Admissions Officer recruits and evaluates applications for admissions for all programs at the School of General Studies, including undergraduates, Postbac Premed and for the International Dual and Joint Degree Programs, Sciences Po, Trinity College Dublin and Tel Aviv University Responsibilities Admissions: Is a member of the Admissions Committee and will participate in making final admission decisions for the undergraduate degree program, as well as for the Dual and Joint Degree programs with JTS, Sciences Po, Tel Aviv University and Trinity. Reviews and evaluates applications for all programs and makes initial recommendations to the committee. Responsible for entering admissions evaluations and decisions into Slate. Responsible for meeting with prospective students and applicants as needed including to conduct interviews and follow-up. (40%) Recruitment: Responsible for the coordination, scheduling, attending and following-up of recruitment events such as information sessions and transfer fairs. Collaborates in the design and analysis of recruitment events. Utilizes Slate to analyze recruitment activity, track progress and to consider adjustments for recruitment planning. Nights and weekends may be required for some recruitment events. Regional recruitment takes place across the United States each semester and occasionally in international territories like East Asia. (40%) Entrance Credit Report Analysis and Transfer Credit Processing: Is responsible for creating and modifying the Entrance Credit Reports. Evaluates and records transfer credits and works with the senior admissions staff to evaluate credentials of international students (15%) Performs other duties as assigned or requested (5%) Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and/or the equivalent required; at least two years related experience in admissions or higher education or equivalent required. Excellent interpersonal skills required; experience with MS Office, student information systems and other computer systems at the University highly desirable.
