You will find hard work truly pays off! Job Overview Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the Software Engineering Manager will lead a team of talented software engineers. Your role will be a rewarding balance of team development, technical guidance, and business strategy. You and your team will be responsible for the architecture, design, and implementation of user interfaces and back end and server technologies to support them. You will work with all stakeholders and developers from design to implementation, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and meet the company's high-quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will support technical development while concentrating on the growth and development of your team members. This is a very rewarding role that allows the candidate to personally be a part of the growth of their team members and the growth of Portrait Displays.Key ResponsibilitiesInspire and mentor the engineering team in their career while achieving business and technical goals.Break-down product requirements and technical designs into actionable tasks.Promote software development best-practices and conduct rigorous code reviews.Review technical designs, conduct code reviews and write code as needed.Help team members troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.Work closely with Product Managers and Designers to ensure requirements and priorities align.Work closely with Project Management to ensure timelines and deliverables are completed on time and within scope.Drive Innovation: Champion new technologies, methodologies, and approaches to improve the development process and the overall product.Platform Expertise: Oversee the development of UI and cloud backend infrastructure.Stakeholder Management: Report progress to senior leadership and communicate complex technical details in a clear and concise manner.Qualifications and ExperienceLeadership Experience: At least three years of experience in a leadership role, managing software development teams and overseeing the delivery of software projects. Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to guide and mentor engineers while working effectively with cross-functional teams.Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. MBA preferred but not required.Experience with UIUX designs and implementations on desktop and webcloud platforms.Experience building back-end services with Typescript or Node.Experience with MySQL, MariaDB, or other relational database.Experience with modern UI frameworks such as React.Git and version control software like Gitlab, GitHub, or BitbucketExperience with networking protocols such as sockets, HTTP, REST, and WebSockets.Experience with test driven development practices.Preferred SkillsExperience with consumer and professional video - HDMI, SDI, DisplayPortExperience with C++, C#, and SwiftObjective-CBackground in math and physicsPassionate about video and color qualityExperience with display color calibrationCompany DescriptionPortrait Displays provides color display solutions that combine the latest in color science with advanced display control.
