Fleet Mechanic

Purpose: The Fleet Mechanic position is responsible for truck and trailer repair and maintenance as directed by Shop Manager. The Fleet Mechanic will be in complete support of and willing adherence to NHT's mission, vision and core values and hold these standards as his/her own.Responsibilities / Essential Functions: •Be able to trouble shoot and repair problems related to electrical, mechanical, air and hydraulic systems•Evaluate equipment for safety issues•Learn proficiency in Emdecs Kona fleet management software•Provide detailed report of work performed and repairs made to equipment•Properly and safely use of tools•Safe use of lifting equipment and jack stands•Keep a clean and safe work environment•Adjust to changing work schedules and emergencies•Ability to work alone while in the shop•Learn new service, maintenance, and repair proceduresEducation & Experience: •High school diploma or GED / equivalent experience•Previous experience as a Mechanic•Possess a basic knowledge and skill set in diesel/trailer mechanicsSkills, Competencies & Attributes:•Ability to communicate effectively with training materials•Ability to read and interpret documents such as maintenance instructions and standard operating procedure manuals•Ability to write routine reports and correspondences •Verbal Communication•Detail oriented•Self-motivated•Ability to multi-task•Organized•Professional •Self-Confident•Efficient•Adaptable•Works well independently and within a team•Problem-solving •Commitment to safety and health guidelines•Aptitude in using various hand tools and precision measurement toolsPhysical Requirements / Environmental Conditions:The Fleet Mechanic will have to spend possible long hours standing and possible heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs. NHT Logistics, Inc can be a busy facility, and the Fleet Mechanic may have to manage a number of projects at one time and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of other mechanics and the Shop Manager.
