Overview We are looking to hire an energetic, detail oriented, certified pharmacy technician who can assist the Pharmacist team in our dynamic environment. The purpose of the Pharmacy Technician is to receive, analyze and complete prescriptions for specialty pharmaceutical products. This role will work in our Pittsburgh headquarters five days a week (M-F) facilitating prescription volume and problem solving for pharmacy issues. The position will understand the full approval process for the prescription journey. They will be responsible for dedicating resources to delivering accurate orders and improving efficiency and quality. The Pharmacy Technician must be able to work through new technologies while prioritizing and assisting in the interest of patient care. What you will do This position is required to work onsite/in our Pittsburgh office 5 days every week (M-F). Analyze incoming prescriptions for accuracy and fulfillment potential. Using critical thinking skills, resolves any issues with the prescription accuracy and completion, and manages the fulfillment process in our non-dispensing pharmacy. Follows up with medical providers to resolve issues to ensure script can be processed and fulfilled. Understands and adhere to standard operating procedures and regulatory standards. Recommends improvements to operating processes to ensure the best patient quality experience. Proactively works with insurance payers to investigate pharmacy benefits coverage. Ensures payers have all information needed in order to verify benefits coverage. Problem solves issues and follows up to ensure completion of benefits approvals. Gathering benefit and utilization management criteria to facilitate prior authorization approvals with providers. Using complex problem-solving skills, understands issues with provider support, prescription support, and ensuring issues are sent and resolved to the correct internal team. Facilitation of information needed to be provided to pharmacists for transfer of files between pharmacies. What we need from you High school diploma required; nationally recognized Pharmacy Technician Certification is required. Minimum 2 years of pharmacy experience required; specialty pharmacy experience preferred. Strong knowledge an understanding of drug nomenclature, medical terminology, and clinical knowledge of dosing. Patient care knowledge. Excellent customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills. General computer skills, with ability to learn new software quickly. Accurate data entry skills. Candidates must be detail-oriented, organizational skills, and have strong time management skills. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, independent thinking, self-managed, ability to think issues through to resolution Physical Requirements Working within an office environment, with or without an accommodation, and being able to carry a laptop to/from the office. Employee must work onsite Monday through Friday, during business hours is essential to this position - no remote work will be permitted for this role.
