This position may include rotating evenings and weekends Job Summary The Creative Arts Therapist is responsible for providing creative art therapies (art, music, or dance) to best serve the needs of the patient. The Creative Arts Therapist will collaborate with other allied health specialists such as Physical or Occupational Therapists to plan, implement, and evaluate counseling and treatment interventions. Essential Functions bull; Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. (Do not delete, move or over-write this statement) bull; Plan, direct, deliver, and evaluate music/art/dance-movement and horticulture therapy based interventions for a full patient caseload in skilled facility, acute rehab, outpatient settings as appropriate. bull;Designs music/art/dance/horticulture sessions or programs in consultation with clients or site administrators to meet client#39;s goals and objectives. Gathers client information from sources such as case documentation, client observation, or interviews of client or family members. bull;Assesses client needs or disorders using artistic and horticultural processes. Analyzes or synthesizes client data to draw conclusions or make recommendations for art, music, dance movement, horticultural therapy. Selects or prepares artistic media or related equipment or devices to accomplish therapy session objectives. bull;Confers with other professionals on client#39;s treatment team to develop, coordinate, or integrate treatment plans. bull;Documents patientrsquo;s participation and reactions during creative arts and horticultural therapy and evaluates therapeutic effects. bull;Continues research in developments in creative arts therapies and horticultural therapy via conferences and other staff development opportunities. bull;Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Education: Art Therapy: Masterrsquo;s degree in creative therapy or counseling required. Music Therapy: BS or higher in Music Therapy by an AMTA approved college or university (academic coursework, 1200 hours of clinical training, and a supervised internship). May have Graduate degrees in Music Therapy focus on advanced clinical practice and research. Horticultural Therapy: Horticultural Therapist-Registered (HTR)-bachelor#39;s degree in horticultural therapy and 480-hour internship to professionally registered with the American Horticultural Therapy Association (AHTA). Dance Therapy: R-DMT Registered Dance/Movement Therapist. Requires a Masterrsquo;s degree from an accredited program and achievement professional requirements. AND Experience: 0-2 years of clinical practice, 1 year preferred. Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements: Art Therapy: Registered Art Therapist (ATR), ATCS or ATCS preferred but not required Music Therapy: Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BS) required. Horticultural Therapy: Certified Horticulturists (CH) or ASHS Certified Professional Horticulturist (ASHS) Dance Therapy: Board Certified Dance/Movement therapist (BC-DMT) Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
