Job Summary: The Controls Engineer III will collaborate with team members to manage, modify, and develop computer systems essential for optical fiber manufacturing. This role involves participating in and occasionally leading projects aimed at achieving plant objectives, driving cost reduction efforts, and supporting capacity expansion initiatives. Scope of Position: Collaborate with engineers to ensure reliable equipment operation in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. Lead and support projects to optimize processes and products. Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Provide production support and troubleshooting for automated control systems and user interfaces in collaboration with production associates, technicians, and engineers. Assist in process and product optimization/improvement efforts. Deliver training to engineers and production associates on new processes, equipment, or control systems as needed. Participate in capital projects and contribute to project planning and execution. Be available for after-hours on-call support as required. Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience in a technical role or relevant field. Required Skills: Proficient in computer and PLC programming skills, including VB, .NET, C, and real-time systems or similar. Desired Skills: Experience in integrating computers into manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Familiarity with MS Windows, iFIX, EthernetIP I/O, Microsoft Office, real-time control systems, and SCADA; experience with motion systems is a plus. Previous experience providing production support in a manufacturing environment. Strong problem-solving and debugging skills; ability to identify and understand operational and engineering needs. Experience troubleshooting simple low voltage electrical circuitry. Education: Bachelors Degree
