Overview The American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a public policy think tank in Washington, DC, seeks a full-time, in-person, entrepreneurial, service-oriented team player to become our next Salesforce administrator. The Salesforce administrator will improve business practices across the Institute through configuring, supporting, maintaining, improving, and training users on our Salesforce environment and other linked applications. Primary responsibilities include working with custom objects and fields, designing complex reports and dashboards, optimizing the user interface, developing automations, developing forms, promoting user adoption, training users, and managing data. We're searching for someone enthusiastic about the Salesforce platform who understands how to use it to solve all types of business problems. Responsibilities Administer and support a Salesforce environment with over 175 users. Guide the Salesforce system's future development alongside a cross-functional Salesforce steering committee. Develop, implement, and modify custom features and functionality using custom fields and objects, roll-ups, page layouts, and email notifications. Create and maintain Salesforce flows, including record-triggered flows, screen flows, and auto-launched flows. Design, optimize, and automate complex reports and dashboards using native Salesforce reporting tools and other reporting apps, including Apsona, Report Builder, and Skuid. Develop Salesforce-integrated forms for events, mailings, and applications using FormAssembly. Manage data, including data loads, leads, and duplicates. Train end users and develop procedures. Support and optimize system integrations with HubSpot, backups, and YouTube. Stay up-to-date on Salesforce release notes and features. Manage field-level security, sharing settings, and permissions. Promote user adoption through training and mentoring new and existing users, guiding topics and developing presentations for internal user meetings, and cultivating a team of power users embedded across AEI's business and research departments. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions at AEI The employee is regularly expected to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard. This job requires close vision abilities due to computer work. The employee must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. The employee must be able to work in a confined area. Moderate noise (e.g., from computers, phones, printers, and light traffic) is expected. Qualifications A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience 2-4 years of experience in Salesforce administration and configuration, preferably in a nonprofit environment Experience configuring in Lightning A strong background in reporting using standard Salesforce functionality and knowledge of Salesforce object relationships A demonstrated understanding of the Salesforce platform and the ability to build and maintain custom objects, fields, page layouts, email notifications, and other functions A demonstrated ability to create, maintain, and troubleshoot automations using Salesforce Flow and Flow Builder A highly organized, detail-oriented personality with strong logic, analytical, and problem-solving skills The ability to work both independently and with a team on multiple projects simultaneously Excellent communication abilities, including strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in communicating technical details in a nontechnical manner A service-oriented posture, experience facilitating cross-functional initiatives, and the ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels of seniority and technical ability Interest in learning and developing skills with new Salesforce-connected apps Optional Qualifications Certification as a Salesforce administrator (strongly preferred) Experience with the following Salesforce-connected applications: Apsona, FormAssembly, HubSpot, Report Builder, and Skuid Experience with basic web development languages such as CSS, HTML, and JavaScript Experience with or knowledge of Apex classes, Visualforce page development, invocable methods, and custom metadata Benefits AEI offers generous benefits, including 18 days of paid leave (15 days of paid annual leave and 3 personal/floating holidays); 12 days of paid sick leave; paid family leave; medical and dental coverage, in addition to a health savings account; medical and dependent care FSA; a tuition assistance program of up to $5,200; life and disability insurance at no cost to employees; and a 403b retirement plan with a 12% contribution from AEI, among other benefits. The salary range for this full-time, exempt position is $70,000 - $87,000. Salary is just one component of AEI's total compensation package for employees.
