Job Type Full-time Description Title: Estimator Positions Supervised: None Department: Project Management FLSA Class: Exempt Reports to: Sr. Project Manager General Description Estimators at CryoWorks are responsible for developing quote documents received by either outside sales representatives or calls coming into the office. Employees in this position work closely with the sales team to gather all the details needed to accurately quote projects. In addition to preparing quote documents, estimators are also responsible for auditing project prices/material take-offs at the time of release to fabrication, pre-ordering non-stocked items once the order is received, comparing POs to quote documents, and sending orders/POs to order processing. Position Levels Estimator (Level 1): An employee at this level has very little to no prior experience in the construction estimation and/or cryogenic industry and is just learning to read blueprints, develop accurate take offs, and use CryoWorks internal software and resources needed to accurately create quote documents. Estimator (Level 2): An employee at this level has some experience in the construction estimation and/or cryogenic industry. They can read blueprints and develop accurate take offs to successfully create quote documents with minimal mistakes. Senior/Lead Estimator (Level 3) : An employee at this level has notable experience in the construction estimation and/or cryogenic industry. They can read blueprints, develop accurate take offs, and use CryoWorks internal software and resources to create quote documents. At this level the employee is considered a lead and may have direct reports that require mentoring and/or training. Maintain constant communication with key stakeholders, internal & external, while in and out of the office. Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, or credit terms. Compute customer's installation or production costs and estimate savings for new services, products, or equipment. Select or assist customers in selecting products based on customer needs, product specifications, applicable regulations, and safety. Inside part sales. Reconfiguration of Approved System Drawings. Process orders. Submit purchasing requests for non-stocked items. Visit and travel to customer sites as needed. Attend events to develop professional knowledge. Gather customer or product information to determine customer needs. Study product information to acquire professional knowledge. Making travel arrangements for flights, hotels, rental cars and submitting expense reports. Technology & Computer Skills & Software Databases - Using a computer application to manage large amounts of information, including creating and editing simple databases, inputting data, retrieving specific records, and creating reports to communicate the information. Graphics - Working with pictures in graphics programs or other applications, including creating simple graphics, manipulating the appearance, and inserting graphics into other programs. Internet - Using a computer application to create, manipulate, edit, and show virtual slide presentations. Navigation - Using scroll bars, a mouse, and dialog boxes to work within the computer's operating system. Being able to access and switch between applications and files of interest. Presentations - Navigating the Internet to find information, including the ability to open and configure standard browsers; use searches, hypertext references, and transfer protocols; and send and retrieve electronic mail (e-mail). Spreadsheets - Using a computer application to enter, manipulate, and format text and numerical data; insert, delete, and manipulate cells, rows, and columns; and create and save worksheets, charts, and graphs. Word Processing - Using a computer application to type text, insert pictures, format, edit, print, save, and retrieve word processing documents. Personal, Notebook and Tablet Computers - Customer relationship management (CRM software), database user interface and query software, enterprise resource planning (ERP software), analytical or scientific software, QuickBooks Enterprise accounting software, transaction security and virus protection software, Microsoft Office Suite software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook/Exchange), business intelligence and data analysis software, calendar and scheduling software, data mining software, information retrieval or search software, internet browser software, network security and virtual private network. Measuring & Drafting Equipment - Using calculators, laser tape measures, levelling equipment, drafting scale, triangles, templates, French curve, compass & sketchpads. Education & Work Experience Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required: Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Technical/Engineering, or Sales/Marketing Minimum Experience Required: 2 years' experience in the construction estimation industry or equivalent Special Requirement: Travel and overnight stays with some possible international travel. May be required to work weekends and holidays as business necessitates; schedules will be determined by management with at least 48 hours advance notice. Work Environment Working in the shop, the following conditions may apply: Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32 F degrees) temperatures.
