Job Description Computer World Services is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Department of Homeland Security. The service support requirement includes installing, testing, uninstalling, integrating hardware devices with DHS applications; system access management; implementation support for DHS applications and specialized equipment; compiling and reporting observations of testing of DHS systems security patches, operating system patches, firmware updates and other critical and necessary patches on DHS applications; and evaluating and supporting new or upgraded specialized devices for DHS applications. The Systems Engineer candidate will provide technical expertise in IT engineering for complex and critical systems and shall have experience with cloud computing technologies. The successful candidate will be able to: 1) Support customer IT programs and projects and meet organizational goals and requirements in an Agile environment; 2) Coordinate with different stakeholders across OIT to resolve issues; 3) Stay abreast of new and emerging technologies to be able to recommend innovative solutions to improve current functions, including but not limited to RPA, Citrix, and any virtual resource automation tools and/or processes; 4) Make recommendations that align with the government customer's strategic goals to better promote cloud adoption, enabling the agency to implement secure capabilities and incorporate new technologies. This includes further consolidation and implementation of existing and new services and technologies including migration of administrative capabilities. Key Tasks and Responsibilities • Provide Tier III level O&M support for troubleshooting and resolving problems with system access, customer applications and devices. • Support the technical integration of applications with peripheral devices and provide guidance, recommendations, and support on the installation and configurations of applications and devices in all environments. • Coordinate with vendor/manufacturers and development teams and work to resolve any issues with devices for full application integration. • Provided analytical support to identify and resolve system problems using existing systems and tools for troubleshooting, including but not limited to PowerShell, command prompt, OS logs, Citrix activity logs, AD, remote desktop connection, Software Center, etc. • Work with DHS and staff from various departments to investigate and analyze the utilization of data at various sites. Perform network traces to identify and resolve problems. • Image laptops and workstations and test peripherals. • Document findings in a technical reference guide. • Recommend guidelines for the installation and configuration of DHS applications and devices that reside on standard DHS desktops/laptops/mobile devices. • Create program efficiencies and eliminate redundant processes. • Monitor the incident queue for issues using ServiceNow. • Collaborate with customer and team to provide innovation recommendations to improve current functions. • Collaborate with customer and team to compose the Contractor Information Technology (IT) Security Plan • Contribute to status reports, project plans, and other deliverables as requested by the Project Manager • Identify and raise risks, issues, and dependencies for recording and tracking. • Document processes related to assigned tasks. • Participate in Scrum ceremonies. Job Requirements: Education & Experience • Requires a BS/BA degree (or equivalent) • Requires 10 years of related experience • Windows administration experience required • Experience with ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence preferred • Experience with SQL and Splunk for reporting Certifications One or more of the following is strongly preferred: • CCNA (any variant), VCP (D&M or DCV a plus), CCP-V • MCSA (MCSE a plus), Server+, Security+ • Cloud Computing Certification Security Clearance • Candidate must be a US Citizen • Top Secret clearance or DHS EOD strongly preferred Other (Travel, Work Environment, DoD 8570 Requirements, Administrative Notes, etc.) • Work will be performed primarily at DHS offices in DC Metro • Some local travel to various sites in the Washington, DC metropolitan area for meetings and briefings will be required • Travel outside of the Washington, DC metropolitan area may be required in support of application and hardware deployments at DHS locations • Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted Computer World Services is an affirmative action and equal employment opportunity employer.
