POSITION SUMMARY: This role presents a distinctive career opportunity to significantly contribute to team expansion and cultivate business relationships with utility customer bases in the region. You will have the chance to participate in establishing a program and influencing the direction of a key segment within our distribution engineering business. LOCATION: PA and largely remote JOB FUNCTION: Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for electric utility customers Interact directly with our utility client on a frequent, as-needed basis; including meetings at customer facilities Review work provided by the Client and assess requirements of scopes. Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker. Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met. Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements, assessing and developing large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments, work permit development, easements, and ROW applications In the future, you can expect to play a role in the hiring process for the future of your team EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 5+ years of relevant work experience performing electric distribution design engineering either in a consulting environment for electric utilities or working directly at an electric utility Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution; Additional relevant experience can be considered in lieu of an engineering-specific degree 1 year+ of demonstrated experience in a leadership role Experience with the execution of distribution projects from kickoff through design approval, including Customer interaction and Process documentation Experience with utility reliability projects Ability to demonstrate proficiency with the NESC Ability to utilize a personal vehicle, as some customer-related travel could be anticipated (Job-related travel will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates) Willingness to perform both field and office work; Ability to work in outdoor environments on occasion; The role may require customer-site visits to collect field data that will assist in developing work packages Candidates should possess a valid U.S. driver's license PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous QAQC experience Experience providing estimated costs, development of a BOM, calculating the CIAC Demonstrated history of Customer Interaction Experience with design tools such as Pole Foreman, O-Calc, Spida-Calc Strong communication skills, written and interpersonal communications skills, and support of customer advocacy Collaborative and inclusive of individuals of diverse backgrounds and geographic locations Positive attitude Ability to work with limited supervision Professional dress and demeanor Attention to detail & Highly organized Excellent time management By completing an application, you give us permission to send you text messages regarding this position and future opportunities.
