The Project Engineering function in Ultra manages and drives project teams through the project bid and development lifecycle. Project Engineers are responsible for ensuring the technical progress and process execution of assigned projects within schedule and budgetary constraints. Project Engineers lead engineering teams to achieve design to cost and design for manufacture expectations. Nationality Requirements Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers. Job Description Project Engineers are responsible for technical execution and work closely with Program Managers contributing technical content to programmatic artifacts and deliverables (risk registers, monthly reports and program reviews, etc.) and in some cases Project Engineers may lead smaller (typically internally funded) projects without a Program Manager. Project Engineers are also accountable for the technical content of bid and proposal activities including Proposal Technical Volume content, WBS structure and dictionary, as well as cost estimation and basis of estimates. A professional at this grade applies technical / professional knowledge, making independent judgements based on practice and significant previous experience to support decision making. Often seen as a referral point or more senior team member to escalate more complex problems. Roles will act independently with minimal guidance and may act as project managers/formal mentors for junior staff. * Essential Duties: Assist the Program Manager with the planning, scheduling, budgeting, and quantitative management of all project activities and staff; contribute to and participate in customer reviews; directing resources, organizational interfaces, and project task scope; developing and reporting project metrics; providing concurrence on recommended changes to requirements and design configuration. Ensuring the overall cost, schedule, and performance of the program. Developing and maintaining the program plans (management baseline) Together with Lead Systems and Software Engineers develop and maintain the technical approach/development process Conducting customer reviews and serving as an advocate for customer issues - technical and programmatic Managing Program staffing, resources, organizational interfaces, and program task scope Develop and conduct monthly engineering status reviews with program management and engineering leadership. Required Skills: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Physics, 7+ years of applicable experience in: Project Engineering/Project Management (3+ Project Management) or a master's degree with 5+ years of experience Candidates must have successful prior experience in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and executing projects to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives. Experience with iterative design and development methodologies is a plus; ability to adjust scope and schedule to conform to user feedback and new requirements. Candidates must have demonstrated excellent oral/written communication skills, and interpersonal skills to support interaction with customer representatives, team members (including subcontractors), and internal management. Must have or have the ability to obtain a US Government secret clearance. Security clearances are granted to US Citizens Willing to travel approximately 10-20% Desired Skills: DoD Secret or higher security clearance Project Management Professional certified Agile project management experience Design for manufacturing experience Strong understanding of Systems Engineering Negotiation and risk management skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
