Job Description Reporting to the Customer Experience Manager at the Niles facility, the Business Development Estimator's (BDE ) main function is to assist the Outside Sales Team with the development of new business requiring custom aluminum extrusions and fabricated aluminum sub-assemblies. Prior to beginning the quote process, the Business Development Estimator will partner with the Outside Sales Team to ensure that all required information is provided and documented to evaluate the opportunity and complete an initial assessment to ensure that it is a strategic fit for Bonnell Aluminum. The general assessment should review: General project information to ensure that the opportunity is a good fit for capabilities in Niles or any of Bonnell Aluminum's facilities or is an ideal candidate to develop a new core competence. CAD and drawing detail to get basic extrusion and fabrication information to complete item #1. All engineering standards and customer defined expectations The Business Development Estimator will lead the estimating process for new items and items that require revisions to the part or process. Proposals shall be developed using a detailed cost-based analysis of the materials and manufacturing process steps to manufacture the components. Once final pricing is set, the BDE will work with the Outside Sales Team to formally present the proposal to the customer and complete the structured sales process. Your Role: Analyzing and interpreting Engineering CAD/math data, drawing and technical specifications to develop manufacturing process flows. Utilizing and documenting feasibility inputs from Manufacturing Engineering, Tool Design and Manufacturing personnel to develop technical proposals. Feasibility flow paths should include key representatives from Extrusion, Fabrication, Anodize, and other required internal and external representatives. Feasibility should include confirmation of the capacity and capability of the manufacturing plant. Collaborating with engineers to determine the equipment, operations, tools, gauges, and materials required for the job. Developing and maintaining strategic partnerships for tooling, gauges, purchased components and services that are offered. Arriving at a make versus buy decision process for manufacturing operations, equipment, tools, gauges, and materials required for the job. Developing time-phase charts and learning curves for manufacturing of parts, assembly, and testing. Maintaining a database of quotes and reporting on performance of key measurables identified by management. Finalizing proposals to distribute to customers Providing final pricing details to the Customer Experience team to establish pricing within ERP. What You'll Need: Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or integrated supply chain management preferred, with previous experience in a fabrication environment required. Fabrication quoting experience is highly preferred. Must possess effective communication skills and be able to demonstrate them in person, on the phone, and via electronic communication. Proficient in Microsoft Office. (Outlook, Word, Excel) Must be able to learn multiple production software packages. (Oracle, JD Edwards). Preferred experience with Salesforce. 2D and 3D Computer-Aid Design (CAD) experience and/or the ability to learn the current systems available - AUTOCAD (2D) and Inventor (3D). Work Environment: Physical ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds. Minimal travel required (0-10 days per year). Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust, mist, gas fumes, extensive walking or climbing.
