40 MILE RADIUS RULE - NO LOCAL CANDIDATES Newburgh, IN Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: ASAP Guaranteed Hours Per Week: 40 Shift Requirements: 8hr Days On Call/Call Back Requirements: No Weekend/Holiday Requirements: No Required Certifications to be Attached upon Submittal: CRCST and or CIS or CBSPD Minimum Experience: 2-3+ yrs No New Travelers - at least one completed contract required Charting Experience Required: No Required Skillset: All specialty instrumentation; all work areas (assembly/decontamination/distribution) Unit Information (Bed size, Case type, Patient ratio): 200+, All Case Types Uniform info: Uniforms provided Covid-19 Vaccine Not Required -- Subject to change The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontamination, assembly of linen packs, operation of steam, ETO and other forms of sterilization. The Sterile Processing Technician maintains adequate inventory for assembly of instruments and equipment and performs multiple tasks that assist in the daily operation of all units as well as being responsible for customer service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Extensive knowledge regarding processes used in the decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling and packaging of medical/surgical material to include, but not limited to, linen, instruments and equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure a sterile and functioning supply of materials + Prepares trays for designated areas according to prescribed procedures + Wraps and/or packages items for specified areas according to procedures prescribed for designated areas + Must be able to operate bar code instrument tracking system + Works with operating room personnel to ensure specialty trays are handled in the prescribed manner + Dissembles, cleans, assembles and tests specialty instrumentation and equipment for proper functioning + Must be able to differentiate between single-use and reusable items + Maintains inventory of supplies and materials to include documenting usage, issuing, receiving and reordering as assigned + Adheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies and procedures + Performs other duties as assigned/necessary Minimum Requirements: + High School Diploma or Equivalent? + Certification as required by state regulations or contract specifications? + Certification for sterile processing technicians by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) may be required + One (1) year of experience in sterile processing preferred? + Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice + Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable + Current CPR if applicable + TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable + Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) + Must meet all federal, state and local requirements + Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site + Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements + Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required + Computer proficiency required + Must be at least 18 years of age Benefits At Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits: + Competitive pay & weekly paychecks + Health, dental, vision, and life insurance + 401(k) savings plan + Awards and recognition programs *Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.
