Woolpert is hiring an Electrical Engineer/PE to join our dynamic buildings team at our Chicago, Illinois, Fairview Heights, Illinois, or Orlando, Florida office in a hybrid/remote environment. This opportunity is also open to candidates located near other Woolpert locations. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform complex, unique engineering functions specific to the electrical discipline. Responsibilities Essential Functions As an Electrical Engineer/PE at Woolpert, you will: Interpret, define, organize, execute, and coordinate engineering assignments. Execute the technical aspects of an engineering program with extensive and diversified engineering requirements. Apply advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes in quality deliverables that meet project specifications. Provide technical opinions in the project definition and planning phases. Communicate new methods, developments, and practices through appropriate firm channels. Participate in the development of standard practices and advancement of team and individual skills. Provide technical assistance in the preparation of proposals, presentations, and technical narratives. Participate in firm-wide quality initiatives. Act as a technical expert and firm representative at functions, as needed. Participate in training sessions for internal staff, as needed. Act as a phase manager in projects, as needed. Qualifications Requirements BA/BS or MA/MS with minimum of 5 years of related experience. Registered Professional Engineer (PE). Experience with building power systems, lighting design, medium-voltage distribution, SKM analysis, and photometric calculations (AGI or Elumtools, preferred). Experience in commercial, hospitality, high-rise, industrial, and federal design, preferred. Experience designing directly in Revit for preparing construction documents. Experience coordinating design documents between disciplines. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents including scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Above average presentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and external relationships. Experience in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Experience in discipline-related software applications. Mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties required of the position. Willing to travel to project sites or offices, as needed. Physical Qualifications Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to operate and manipulate standard office equipment. Ability to occasionally reach and bend. Ability to frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
