NYC + Hamptons Laundress

Job Description A family of four residing in West Village, NYC, is seeking a highly-skilled, full-time Laundress. The focus of this role is wardrobe care and linens/sheets management-no additional housekeeping duties are involved. The family also spends summers in The Hamptons, and the laundress will provide support in both locations. Key Responsibilities: Laundering and steaming: Meticulously wash, steam, and hand-iron all clothing, with special care for delicate and luxury garments. Wardrobe care: Expertly manage fine garments, including designer and couture items, ensuring they are cleaned and handled with precision. Linens and sheets: Wash, iron, and maintain household linens and bedding to the highest standard, ensuring everything is fresh and perfectly pressed. Dress shirts management: Handle detailed care for dress shirts, including proper ironing, folding, and storing. Closet organization: Keep closets in both NYC and Hamptons residences systematically organized, ensuring a smooth transition between seasons and travels. Travel preparation: Pack and unpack clothing for frequent family travel, ensuring garments are packed appropriately to maintain quality. Garment tracking: Keep track of items sent for dry cleaning or other professional services and manage receipts and related expenses. Collaboration: Work closely with the Household Manager and Personal Assistant to ensure seamless wardrobe and linen care. Candidate Requirements: Professional experience: Several years of recent, dedicated experience as a professional laundress, focusing on wardrobe and linen care exclusively (no housekeeping). Passion for fine linens and garments: Strong attention to detail with an affinity for maintaining luxury fabrics, couture items, and high-quality linens. References: Strong, recent references and ability to pass a background check. Language: Fluency in English. Work authorization: Legal authorization to work in the United States. Attitude: A positive, professional demeanor and ability to work well within a team environment. Compensation and Benefits: Hourly rate: $55 per hour, based on experience (DOE).
