We are seeking a proactive and strategic Senior Manager of Communications and Public Affairs (C&PA) to be part of an agile communications team approach. The J&J Innovative Medicine North America (NA) Portfolio Agile Team is designed to meet the evolving needs of the business, seize future opportunities, and address emerging challenges. This team represents an exciting new capability designed to instill agility and enable C&PA to flex toward the most critical business needs as we execute on the business strategy. Colleagues on this team will have the unique opportunity to work across the NA Innovative Medicine portfolio on a variety of limited-duration projects that address urgent business priorities. This is an opportunity to expand your capabilities across product communications, issues management, public affairs and digital communications. This position is responsible for the development and execution of integrated communication and public affairs (C&PA) strategies support Johnson & Johnson's US Innovative Medicine business. This individual will develop and execute external strategies to illustrate our leadership in Oncology, Immunology and Neuroscience, as well as therapies in the Pulmonary Hypertension space. This individual will also work across our portfolio of established medicines, working to protect and enhance reputation. This individual reports to the Business Unit Communications Leader (BUCL). This role is based in Titusville, New Jersey. RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPAL DUTIES (Essential Functions) As lead commercial communication resource, drive business unit growth and build stakeholder trust/advocacy through proactive public relations Drive business growth and build stakeholder trust/advocacy through proactive public relations Operate an agile communication model that adapts focus and resources based on business priorities and cycles. Serve as lead communication/public relations support for key brands and/or initiatives in Oncology, Immunology, Neuroscience, as well as Pulmonary Hypertension, as well as investigational or pipeline products Develop strong partnership with and serve as trusted advisor to leadership, including Vice Presidents of Sales, Marketing and Medical Affairs across multiple brands Integrate knowledge from deep internal and external networks; multi-stakeholder insights; and broad understanding of business, competitive and industry priorities to lead the development and efficient implementation of strategic communication plans that drive key business and reputation outcomes and shape the environment for the company's products Proactively drive business and Enterprise outcomes by identifying and applying key outcomes metrics to communication practices, and provide insights that drive confidence, integration and alignment. Partner closely with Strategy & Insights Center of Excellence (CoE) to develop metrics and assess impact Anticipate and address emerging market issues and internal realities to drive and protect reputation Build understanding of current issues in the environment affecting businesses and brands; in partnership with Policy colleagues, develop and execute public affairs strategies that inform and shape belief, action, behavior and advocacy to shape the external environment Partner closely with the relevant Therapeutic Area Communications teams within the R&D organization, as well as Johnson & Johnson Corporate Media Relations, Investor Relations and other communications CoEs Develop and oversee public relations budgets and manage resources Build relationships with and act as liaison to key third-party influencers and external constituencies Maintain stakeholder trust through effective management of complex issues Maintain stakeholder trust through effective issues management Proactively identify potential brand / franchise-related issues and develop issues-management strategies Manage product issues and other situations that may impact stakeholder trust and company reputation Partner closely with global communication, Media Relations, Workforce Communication, Strategy Insights and other CoEs to ensure Enterprise alignment Develop messages and serve as spokesperson for media inquiries Drive employee engagement and advocacy through powerful organizational communications Partner with business leaders to develop internal communication strategy and messages to inspire, engage, inform and align employees Understand outcomes by bringing analytics to organizational communications, incorporating relevant metrics that are indicators of employee engagement Partner closely with Employee Engagement communications CoE, HR, and others to ensure integrated, seamless integration Enterprise communication Build Global Communications & Public Affairs capability and excellence Model and inspire a continuous improvement mindset to ensure function stays on the leading edge of communications, change, technology including artificial intelligence, social media and other key trends Education and/or additional training: BA required Minimum of five (5) years of experience leading communications in a company, NGO, government agency or public relations agency is required Proven track record of successful public relations/communications, corporate communications, product communications, public affairs, and/or media relations achievements is required Demonstrated ability to develop successful partnerships and influence with senior executives is required Demonstrated ability to craft compelling stories, with superior written, oral and visual communication abilities is required Deep understanding of digital and social platforms is required Experience dealing with national and local lay, professional/trade and social media is preferred Experience within the pharmaceutical, Medtech or healthcare industries is preferred Experience in crisis/issues management is preferred Experience in the oncology, immunology, neuroscience or pulmonary disease space is preferred Demonstrated analytic ability is preferred Experience in managing budgets and schedules is required Ability to maintain perspective and bring positive attitude and courage to partnership discussions is preferred Professional maturity and ability to work effectively across levels, functions, regions, and backgrounds is preferred Salary The anticipated base pay range for this position is $99,000 to $170,200. Bonus The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
