Manager Tax Operations Location - NYC 1211-6th Ave. Hybrid - 3 Days In Office Manager Tax Operations will report to the Director of Tax Technology and Operations. The role will also have a dotted reporting line into the Senior Director of State and Local Tax. The ideal candidate must be willing to assist on a wide range of tasks critical to the effective operation of the News Corporation Tax organization and offer hands on support in completing key job duties including federal and state and local tax compliance, tax forecasting, tax planning and research, as well as tax accounting and controversy. Candidate must have a broad range of experience and demonstrate excellent analytical skills, be detail oriented and organized. The role requires a strong technical background in both Federal and state and local income taxes. Key Responsibilities ï‚· Assist in federal and SALT income tax compliance processes, providing review as well as guidance to co-sourcing staff ï‚· Prepare Global Tax Provision workpapers and maintain documentation for Auditors. ï‚· Assist in managing the companies effective tax rate and reserves ï‚· Preparation and review of state apportionment ï‚· Take leadership role in handling SALT audit examinations and preparation of IDR responses ï‚· Research and participation in non-income tax (e.g., gross receipts, sales &use, etc.) compliance and audit examinations ï‚· Identify, assess and resolve technical tax issues of moderate complexity ï‚· Analyze, track and model impact of Federal/SALT legislative proposals ï‚· Be the "go-to person" for Tax Data (Federal and State) ï‚· Assist with key tax projects including process improvements, technology, planning and modeling ï‚· Develop a deep understanding of the business and related tax issues by collaborating with business unit leaders. ï‚· Must be eager to work on a variety of Tax related issues Skills and Requirements ï‚· Bachelors Degree in Accounting required, advanced degree preferred ï‚· 4+ years of experience with a blend of public accounting and corporate tax experience, Big 4 public accounting experience preferred ï‚· CPA certification or licensed attorney ï‚· Thorough understanding of federal as well as state and local tax ï‚· Broad understanding of U.S. GAAP accounting rules and pronouncements ï‚· Preparation and review experience with U.S. federal and state income tax return compliance, tax forecasting and budgeting ï‚· Exposure to Federal and state tax audits ï‚· Solid technical tax research experience with an eagerness to learn ï‚· Proven ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment while dealing with competing priorities ï‚· Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills ï‚· Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment and exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and the timely completion of duties ï‚· Proficient with Microsoft office applications ï‚· Knowledge of tax compliance and provision software (Corptax, ONESOURCE, etc.) ï‚· Familiarity and/or aptitude for understanding how to use current technologies including Alteryx ï‚· Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills Equal Opportunity Employer All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status.
