Basic Function: The primary function of the S&OP Analyst (SOPA) will be to keep demand and supply in balance. This will be done by focusing on aggregated/disaggregated volumes and product families so that capacity constraints, mix issues, individual products, inventory, and customer orders can be managed more readily. The time horizon for balancing within the scope of oversight can be broken into short term (today through 3 months in daily/weekly buckets - also known as master planning), medium term (current month to two years in monthly buckets - also known as S&OP), and long term (current year to five years in monthly buckets - also known as Roadmap). This balancing is coordinated in association with Americas/Global Commercial and Manufacturing teams, guided by Global Supply Chain. The scope of this role extends to all products manufactured at the Geismar location for both Rubicon partners, the Huntsman Houston location, as well as other production locations within the Americas HPU footprint. This role will also have general involvement with HCl (byproduct of the MDI process) and MDI/Polyol/Aniline Coman activity. Short term activities include but are not limited to: • Perform manual balances as needed outside of normal monthly process to provide decision-making data to upper management, usually occurring around significant impacts to supply or demand. • Assist in priority setting in situations where supply + inventory • Assist in priority setting to drive towards long term planning gap closure that could be impacted by short term shortfalls • Coordination with master planners from all departments • Communication to internal and external personnel as necessary • Reporting Medium term activities include but are not limited to: • Facilitate detailed supply, demand, and inventory balancing of all product streams and finished products for the rolling 18 month S&OP time horizon to and from all regions for both Rubicon partners • Provide detailed analysis on all stream and asset gaps following monthly balancing and provide options / proposed solutions to resolve said gaps. • Facilitate monthly supply meeting which include data preparation and action items created from the meetings. • Facilitate detailed discussions on outage plans with appropriate production units to determine gaps to be closed • Coordination with S&OP equivalents from other regions • Communication to internal and external personnel as necessary • Reporting Long term activities include but are not limited to: Facilitate long term (Roadmap) supply, demand, and inventory balancing of all product streams and provide input on gaps and opportunities to address • Coordination with S&OP equivalents from other regions • Communication to internal and external personnel as necessary Reporting The SOPA will align with global teams in Europe and Asia to support global business growth and immediate material needs. The incumbent provides general support to the local Supply Chain and Production facility as needed and direct support to the Americas S&OP Supply Supervisor. The SOPA will assume backup responsibility of the Americas S&OP Supply Supervisor and other SOPA as needed. RELATIONSHIPS The SOPA will be a liaison between our business partners, customers, and employees in communicating pertinent information accurately and expeditiously to operate the department/business efficiently and effectively. The incumbent will also develop employee relations, building trust and earning respect by recognizing employee talents/contributions and demonstrating an attitude of impartiality and consideration. The incumbent must maintain effective and timely communications between cross-functional roles within Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain, Technical, Production, Shared Services, QA, and Product Development. KNOW HOW Technical The incumbent must possess a working knowledge of SAP Atlas, Lotus Notes, OMP, HSIMS and the Microsoft O365 Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, and PowerBI. He/She will need to work with the IT support teams during system enhancements, lending them assistance in the testing phase of implementation. The incumbent will need to stay abreast of current IT Systems and ongoing changes in technology. All aspects of this job require a unique combination of technical skills and business knowledge. Heavy technical expertise and a good capacity for learning are essential. A general understanding of chemical manufacturing and a working knowledge of production capabilities is essential. Business This function requires a person with a significant understanding of sales and operations planning processes. It also requires knowledge of both Rubicon JV partner's organization and businesses, products, customers, and manufacturing facilities globally. The SOPA should recognize, promote, and lead improvement opportunities in business processes and system functionality. Regulatory The incumbent must understand Material Safety Data Sheets and Technical Data Sheets, including retrieval process to be able to provide assistance as requested. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of Anti-Trust policies, business procedures, and demonstrate ethical business practices. The incumbent supports all safety programs. PROBLEM SOLVING Due to the significant dollar impact involved regarding sales and operation planning, the incumbent must also be detail oriented and organized with a penchant for problem solving. The incumbent will be responsible for exploring/implementing improvement opportunities and assisting with special projects needs. The SOPA will develop business cases that will justify recommended improvements and gap closures. He/she must be able to efficiently facilitate discussions between parties with varying priorities to achieve desired results. This position requires analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to analyze large volumes of information to perform complex analyses, project business requirements/customer needs, and aid in the guidance of other associates. The incumbent must be able to resolve problem situations which include: Foreseeing possible problems and alleviating them prior to their occurrence, troubleshooting existing problems, identifying root causes, and developing/implementing resolution. He/She must have supply chain operational knowledge of all products, transportation, customers and strategic business units.
