We are seeking a Plant Weld Engineer to join our Navy Systems team based at York, PA location. This position is responsible for supporting the current manufacturing and facilitating the continuous improvement processes associated with the manufacturing methods and processes in the plant facility. Manages all weld certifications at local plant, through the Weld School Coordinator. Has management responsibility for the Weld School. Also develops solutions for production problems related to materials, processes, and tooling. Supports new products and programs by developing new processes, designing tooling and machinery, and developing production controls. Responsible for set-up of new equipment, ensures proper operation of the new equipment, and to teach others the proper use of this equipment. Accountable for applying sound economic methods to equipment and space utilization to meet design and quality criteria with the lowest expense and consistent with the facilities financial and non-financial objectives. Vacation: 3 weeks of paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, and 10 standard holidays per calendar year (6.5 weeks in total) Learn more about Navy Systems York, PA Plant: Navy Systems, York PA As a Plant Weld Engineer, you will: Develops processes, methods, tooling, and production controls for new products and programs; supervises their assembly and proofing. Supports production to resolve any welding/brazing issues. Coordinates new product development and cost reduction activities. Manages capital equipment planning and procurement activities. Plans, supervises and executes work measurement, and defines operations and operation balance to TAKT time. Plans, justifies and implements facility changes to produce the forecasted volume of product economically. Supports Lean Manufacturing and Flow Manufacturing. Supports and leads 5S activities. Participates in and leads Kaizen events. Generates Welding Procedure Specification/Procedure Qualification Record and all other supporting documents. Oversee administration of testing and qualification of welders and brazers. Required Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Weld Engineering, with three (3) to five (5) years of progressive, hands on weld engineering experience preferred. This position also requires knowledge of formal problem solving methods along with experience with financial controls and product costing. Previous experience with new products and process introductions along with a working knowledge of lean manufacturing practices and procedures is also required. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint) as well as Internet software and E-mail is required. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 40 pounds.
