The Position ArtYard is looking for a part-time Human Resources Managerto join our collaborative, supportive and diverse team. You will be working with the leadership team to promote organizational wellness and cultural alignment in support of strategic priorities. While this position will initially be based on-site to allow for relationship building, there is opportunity for a hybrid work schedule after 90 days. ABOUT US ArtYard brings provocative art, performance, and creative mischief to Frenchtown, New Jersey. We are an incubator for creative expression and a catalyst for collaborations that reveal the transformational power of art. We host a residency program dedicated to developing original work, art exhibitions, and live events and communal engagements, including performance, music, film screenings, poetry, storytelling events, and our biennial Hatch and Aqualumina festivals. Our campus includes ArtYard Center, home to exhibition spaces, a 162-seat theater, and offices; two residential buildings; and a warehouse accommodating a workshop, our partner organization Studio Route 29, and other commercial space. KEY OUTCOMES Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading and directing full scope human resource functions, including: Managing the recruiting process to effectively attract, hire and onboard new staff. Developing and implementing initiatives to promote employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Providing guidance and resources to staff and management to ensure an effective and legally compliant performance management process, including performance reviews, job descriptions, coaching, feedback, disciplinary and termination procedures. Creating and/or recommending professional development opportunities. Recommending benefits and compensation strategies/programs that align with organizational values and goals, and effectively administering these programs. Effectively responding to workplace complaints, conducting investigations as needed, and recommending resolution or course of action. Managing leaves of absence (including worker's comp) in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and internal policies. Remaining up-to-date on relevant employment law and compliance requirements, and implementing needed action within the organization (for instance posting required posters, providing employee notices, ensuring legally required training is conducted, etc.) . We are looking for: Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience) 5+ years increasingly responsible HR/People Ops experience Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build credible relationships internally and externally, and handle challenging or conflict situations with tact and professionalism. Up-to-date with applicable employment laws and regulations Experience with HR information systems and Microsoft Office applications. Able to interpret and apply company policies; able to apply an understanding of key legal precedents, policies and practices to protect the interest of the Company and its employees. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. In addition it would be great if you also have: Experience in an HR Leadership role (or department of one) in a small to mid-size organization HR recognized certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP) Proficiency with Google Workspace
