Overview of Role The Design Engineer I role will focus on designing new products as part of several product development teams at our Technology Development Center located at our St. Louis, Missouri headquarters. You will manage your own activities and take accountability for completing routine tasks that are part of the product design process. As part of multiple teams, you will be relied on to have a significant understanding of procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment. You will work directly with product and manufacturing engineers and will report directly to an Engineering Manager. Your Key Responsibilities will include: Interpreting customer requirements, defining design specifications and preparing documentation packages for our manufacturing teams, suppliers, and customers Creating and revising documentation in support of product and process design and development Working with a team to develop innovative solutions to customer requirements Creating part and assembly drawings for new and existing products Interpreting customer provided drawings and CAD models and preparing CAD drawings for new parts and assemblies based on the instructions of others Component design, research, and verification of form, fit and function Implementing engineering changes including layout revisions, BOM (Bill of Material) updates, and drawing/design updates Assisting in manufacturability of new products Qualifications: B.S. degree in an engineering in Mechanical or Electrical or Two-year degree and 2-5 years of related engineering or equivalent experience in 2D drawings and 3D modelling. Demonstrated strong proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD Created models and assemblies, familiarity with the Configuration manager for parts and assemblies Created sheet metal parts and drawings with proper Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and weld cut lists or BOMs Created and edited part and drawing templates Familiarity with the Properties Manager and PDMWorks Enterprise is preferred Experience in drawing & documents updates, checking in, checking out process. Experience is standardization of drawings, documents preferred Proficiency in Stack up analysis for sub-assemblies is preferred Additional success factors: Experience in product design highly preferred Understand and apply engineering specifications, prints, drawings, standards, etc. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
