DescriptionOur fast-growing, multi-specialty practice is looking for a Sterilization Technician (Essex office)! Timberlane Dental Group is different from other dental offices in Vermont. Function: The primary function of the Sterilization Technician is to manage the sterilization of instruments and maintain equipment to ensure proper sterilization. The Dental Sterilization Clinician, also ensures that necessary sterilized instruments, in sufficient quantity, are available to clinicians while maintaining a clean and organized work space.Responsibilities:Perform processing of all instruments coming through lab according to OSHA protocols. Timing and workflow should be created around the needs of the clinical team.Weekly, monthly and quarterly maintenance of the sterilization equipment including Miele's, ultrasonics, oiling machines, wrapping/bagging, autoclave or all cycles run through sterilizers cleanliness of all labs; wiping counters, restocking cabinets, recyclingPerform weekly spore testing and maintain logs.Maintain equipment (complete maintenance logs), troubleshoot as needed, report faults/service needs to anize and put away sterilized instruments. Allocate cassettes to designated teams/areas.Be able to clean out lost films/cardboard sleeves in Digora Optime reader (xray scanner).Maintain doctor/hygiene handpieces (with motors) to ensure proper functionality.Replace buttons and/or tips on air/water syringes.Facilitate simple repairs and/or troubleshoot per the supplier's recommendations and communicate with the designated manager accordingly.Once xray certified, help team - when applicable - taking xrays.May be required to perform other duties as assigned.RequirementsPrevious clinical experience, knowledge and understanding of sterilization and/or dental procedures, terminology, and techniques is strongly desired.Ability to work collaboratively in teams to improve the operations of immediate work groups.Ability to respond appropriately to instructions, questions or requests for possess excellent attention to detail.Working Conditions and Physical Effort:Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment. Moderate physical activity including: handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds, standing for prolonged periods of time, bending, reaching in front, both arms; fine motor dexterity required to handle instruments, walking to clinical operatories. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety (OSHA) precautions. Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training.
