Job description This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide the services outlined below: International SOS is looking for an individual who holds qualifications for Diagnostic Radiology Technician (DRT) and Computed Tomography (CT) Technician to operate a wide variety of imaging equipment to obtain studies for a multitude of exams and procedures in a variety of patient care settings. Key Responsibilities: Technologists must know anatomy and physiology including location, appearance, and functioning of the major and minor systems susceptible to radiographic illumination and knowledge of changes to systems and organs caused by common medical and surgical diseases. Technologists must accurately operate a wide variety of imaging equipment to obtain examinations of acceptable quality. This includes but is not limited to Fluoroscopic and General. Perform diagnostic exams, portable radiography, portable fluoroscopy, computed tomography exams, Angio procedures, operating room, and other duties as assigned. Overseeing the day-to-day safe operating of the CT and/or Angio environment. Prepares contrast materials under the direction of the radiologist to perform exams requiring injectable or consumable solutions such as UGI's and BE's, Small Bowel, Modified Barium Swallows, Venograms, Cystograms, Cholangiograms, Fistula grams, Arthrography, etc. Must be continuously on alert to the patient's conditions and disorders and intervene when immediate attention is required. Records all doses of radiation for fluoroscopy and portable fluoroscopy exams. Received and interpreted all radiology requests. Inputs pertinent information into the designated computer systems and has the knowledge to register, complete, cancel, and edit exams. Responsible for the quality of radiographic exams performed to ensure high quality while minimizing patient dosage. Coordinates examinations that require radiologist direction around physician availability, maximizing exam room effectiveness. Optimizes appointment times while maintaining flexibility for emergency cases. Applies infection control practices and procedures for patients and staff as mandated by the Medical Center and Imaging Service Infection Control policies. Maintains electronic records and files of exams ensuring all paperwork is properly filled out. Check equipment for proper functioning. Performs all aspects of CT imaging, CT interventional radiography including biopsies, and CT angiography including cardiac imaging (cardiac trained techs only). Maintain competence in Venipuncture and refer to the Imaging Service procedure manual for contrast guidelines. Basic Requirements/Certifications: Must be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Must possess a Computed Tomography (CT) certification. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS). Prior VA or military experience is preferred. Minimum of 2 years experience with the understanding of advanced DRT/CT applications. Education Required: Bachelor's or associate degree in a related field preferred. High School Diploma or GED. Physical Requirements: Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. May require bending, stooping, and lifting to 25 lbs. Other Special Qualifications: US Citizen Must relocate to the project site for the duration of the contract. Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.
