Our Forensic Engineering Department focuses on the investigation of buildings and structures that are failing or aging and the design of their repair. We are currently looking for an experienced structural engineer to join our team as a Professional Forensic Engineer. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with structural building analysis and design. A variety of structural design experience is highly desired, including involvement with both new and existing structures, commercial and residential construction, and a range of materials (concrete, masonry, steel etc). Forensic investigation and failure analysis is desired, but not required. They are looking for a new challenge where they can build upon their knowledge and design experience to grow into a new role that includes unique and varied renovation and retrofit design projects, forensic building investigation, and gaining new certifications. Our candidate is a competent communicator, and skilled at speaking to different audiences which may include adjusters, attorneys, general contractors, facility managers and owners. This position could be based out of our Allentown, Phoenixville or Mechanicsburg offices. Responsibilities include: Preparing designs and drawings for repairs; Performing detailed inspections; Project management from intake to invoicing; Assessments of residential and commercial structural components and building envelopes; Taking notes and photographs; Preparing written reports; Coordination with owners, facility managers and general contractors Responding to emergency investigation requests which may impact public safety. Requirements Minimum requirements for this role include: B.S. in Architectural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering, or related engineering; Experience in structural or architectural design; Experience with structural analysis software Experience in preparation of technical specifications; Current Professional Engineering or Architect license in PA, NJ, DE, MD (or ability to obtain it); Ability to obtain PA Act 34, 114, and 151 Clearances. Valid driver's license; Other desirable qualifications include: Experience in assessment and repair design of building envelopes and facades, parking garages, bridges, buildings; Experience with insurance investigation of roof or structure damage due to hail, wind, water, fire, etc; HAAG roofing certifications Ability to carry 50 - 100 lb. ladder; Be comfortable with heights and walking on sloped roofs; We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from all qualified candidates.
