The Finishing Trades Institute of New York at Albany will conduct a recruitment from July 1, 2024 through June 27, 2025 for 10 Glazier apprentices; 10 Painter, Decorator & Paperhanger apprentices; and 10 Painter and Decorator (Structural Steel Bridges) apprentices. Please note that the ten openings for each trade listed for apprentices represent the total number for three recruitment regions - the Capital District, Mohawk Valley, and North Country regions. Applications can be obtained only in person from Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Finishing Trades Institute of New York at Albany, 191 Broadway, Menands, NY 12204. Applications will not be available on national holidays. All application must be filled out on the premises. All applications must be received no later than June 27, 2025. The Committee requires that applicants: Must be at least 18 years old. Social Security Card required after selection and prior to enrollment in apprenticeship. Must have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED). Proof required after selection and prior to enrollment in apprenticeship. Must have reliable transportation to and from various job sites and required classes at the approved school. Must have a valid Drivers License to operate company vehicles. A valid drivers license required after selection and prior to enrollment in apprenticeship. For the Glazier trade, must be able to lift and carry 50-100 lbs. repeatedly throughout the day. For the Painter, Decorator & Paperhanger, and Painter and Decorator (Structural Steel Bridges) trades, must be able to lift and carry 50-75 lbs. repeatedly throughout the day.
