Psychiatric Certified Nurse Practitioner; Contract Region: Toledo and/or Lima National Youth Advocate Program is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide medical services to our clients including performing physical assessments and treating acute, minor illnesses as needed in the Toledo/Lima Region. In this contract role, you will see clients in Toledo 2 days per week and Lima 1 day per week. This position can be split between each location. You choose! This is an on-site position with a flexible schedule. Responsibilities • Perform physical assessments on each client upon arrival and intake. • Diagnose health issues; detect changes in a patient's health and change treatment plans as necessary. • Prescribe and administer medicines and treatments as necessary. • Evaluate responses to treatments and medications. • Order and perform diagnostic tests as necessary. • Identify abnormal findings and notify the client's physician or consulting physicians. • Assure the need for medical treatment for illnesses and/or injuries are being met. • Assure the administration and implementation of physician orders, and when appropriate, educate the appropriate staff on administering medication and/or treatment as needed. • Assure all documentation and required record keeping is completed in a timely manner. • Assess minor illnesses and administer non-prescription medications per approved Standing Orders Policy. • Schedule and coordinate examinations by the consulting physician for each child. • Assure the program's compliance with Medical Policies and Procedures as well as Standing Orders. • Provide in-service training and continued education to staff on health-care related needs of adolescents, CPR, and First Aid. • Maintain Red Cross CPR/First Aid Trainer's Certification. Minimum Qualifications • Master's Degree from an accredited nursing program. • Must be a Registered Nurse with valid licensure and be board certified by either ANCC or AANP. • Must have prescription authorization. • Nursing experience working with adolescents is preferred. • Must be available for on-call phone consultations as needed. • Must be able to maintain compliance with attending agency required training programs. • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
