Summary: Reports to the Vice President of Supply Chain through subordinate supervisors is responsible for planning organizing and ensuring that optimum housekeeping laundry and linen services are provided to user departments throughout the hospital. Responsibilities: Facilitates the effective utilization of resources including people financial and material by developing goals and objectives for Environmental Services Laundry and Linen in conjunction with senior management and the strategic plan for the hospital. Serves as a role model to staff by continuously demonstrating the corporate values and principles creating and maintaining effective positive customer service relationships by identifying customers and their needs ensuring that their needs are met responding appropriately to difficult interactions and educating staff on the importance of quality customer service. Effectively and continually communicates with the staff management and customers to facilitate the flow of information necessary to success of the employees department function and the organization. Creates employee ownership for their careers and success by providing staff with positive and action oriented feedback to maximize the utilization and potential of the organizations human resources. Interviews hires evaluates and directs supervisory personnel responsible for subordinate staff. Reviews employee relations recommendations of supervisory personnel and provides guidance and counsel in resolving complex and/or sensitive problems. Directly and through supervisors ensures constant application of academic medical center polices. Oversees the development and implementation of in-service training programs to enhance job performance of staff. Responsible for the development submission and monitoring of the annual operating and capital budget. Assures compliance with allocated budget. Monitors productivity reporting data and take corrective action. Review approve and monitor expenditures by authorizing all personnel and purchase requisitions. Prepares and maintains related records reports and analyses Ensures overall maintenance and physical inventory of equipment. Provides management necessary to ensure that housekeeping functions are preformed and the Academic Medical Center facilities are maintained according to established standards of sanitation and cleanliness. Implements departmental policies and procedures governing such matters as quality control infection control safety and personnel. Prepares capital equipment labor and supply budgets to ensure maintenance of housekeeping/laundry equipment furniture accessories and inventory in supply area. Monitors contract services such as window washing and extermination services at each of the Academic Medical Center sites. Maintains statistics and prepares detailed reports on such activities as work load studies building code reports linen consumption and labor against budget. Ensures all state federal and other governing agency standards codes and regulations are adhered to and that all appropriate licenses permits and certifications are obtained. Develops and monitors departmental Quality Indicators. Participates in councils meetings quality improvement teams and other such committees as needed. Participates in professional activities and maintains professional affiliations to keep abreast of trends/changes regulations and legislation in the field. Other information: QUALIFICATIONS-EDUCATION: Baccalaureate Degree in Institutional or Business Management is required. QUALIFICATIONS-EXPERIENCE: Minimum of seven years progressively more responsible experience in managing an Environmental Services and/or Laundry Department preferably in a systems environment.
