Our client base includes the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), U.S. Marines, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Guard Bureau, Federal Aviation Administration, as well as various state, municipal and commercial entities. We have an immediate need for a Senior Project Scientist to support our Northeastern US business operations managed out of our corporate headquarters in Marlborough, MA. The Senior Project Scientist will support all aspects of environmental investigation, remediation, O&M, and LTM projects for our Federal customers. Essential Functions: Leads field components of environmental investigation and remediation projects for federal customers throughout New England and elsewhere within the US. Support project managers with scoping and planning of field investigation/sampling events by assisting in development of technical approach and serving as lead author of work plans. Work with junior staff to ensure that all field forms, equipment, and materials are assembled. Support project managers with procurement of subcontractors required for projects (develop subcontractor scopes of work and procurement documents). Provide oversight of junior staff during survey with GPS and laser level, well development, and collection of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, or waste stream samples for laboratory analysis. Provide oversight of subcontractors during soil boring, monitoring well installations, geophysical surveys, and land surveying. Log soil borings and bedrock cores. Support operations and maintenance of remedial systems. Support development of technical/cost proposals. Maintain internal and external client relationships. Communicate effectively with project team, customers, and other stakeholders. Qualifications: Bachelors degree from four-year college or university required. Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental or Civil Engineering, or related field. Masters degree preferred. Eight or more years of experience in environmental services or remediation with an emphasis on planning and executing field investigations and associated reporting. Hands-on experience with environmental compliance with federal regulations (CERCLA, CAA, CWA, SDWA, RCRA (subtitles C, D, X) and/or state regulations (Massachusetts Contingency Plan). Experience working for USEPA, Department of Defense, and other federal agencies, and New England state environmental agencies. Experience preparing CERCLA deliverables, including Preliminary Assessments (with HRS scoring), Site Inspections, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Proposed Plans, Decision Documents, and 5 Year Reviews. Experience conducting Targeted Brownfield Assessments and reporting. Current OSHA 40-hour training for Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and current OSHA 8-hour Refresher HAZWOPER training. Advanced Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe skills. Strong attention to detail, and organizational and analytical skills. Ability and willingness to undertake frequent travel (25-40%), including the potential for extended travel (multiple weeks). Ability to work overtime and availability outside of normal business hours. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine plans, reports, and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to pass background checks required for military base access. The average salary range for this position is between $85,000-$105,000 and will be based on factors such as experience, education, and geographical location.
