Description Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney who is willing to learn and support Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the world's fastest growing technology companies. This Corporate Counsel role is based at Amazon's headquarters in Seattle, Washington, New York City, New York, or HQ2 in Arlington, Virginia and it will support the AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services business team. To learn more about AWS, visit This Corporate Counsel will serve as a trusted advisor to business leadership regarding transformative alliances with AWS Partners. The candidate will have primary transactional drafting and negotiation responsibilities on deals, and provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation for senior executives and other business team members. These transactions will be complex, high value agreements with few precedents, and require collaboration across multiple teams. The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. The successful candidate works well within a large legal team, but is also able to work independently on transactional and project work. Key job responsibilities This role will support the AWS Sales and Marketing team, which is a dynamic and fast-growing organization across the globe. Key responsibilities in supporting this team include negotiating strategic deals with global partners, innovating to modernize and scale our legal support, and analyzing security, competition, and other legal risk in the context of sales operations. This role will also participate in other Amazon Web Services legal projects, including negotiating and drafting agreements and managing legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships. Basic Qualifications Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent 5+ years of experience as a corporate transactions attorney focused on M&A, investments, or custom deals Preferred Qualifications Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work Familiarity with a wide variety of transaction types (e.g., private company, public company, stock purchase, asset purchase, cross-border, minority investments, joint ventures, etc.) Experience with M&A and investments involving technology companies and startups Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market.
