Junior Linux System Administrator Job Locations US-MD-Linthicum Requisition ID Position Category Cyber Security Clearance Top Secret/SCI w/Poly Responsibilities Peraton is seeking a Linux System Administrator to join our team in the Fort Meade, MD / Annapolis Junction, MD area. The ideal candidate will possess Linux system administration experience in a Linux environment (Linux, Redhat Linux, CentOS). The Linux System Administrator duties may include but are not limited to: Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems. Manages IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems. Provide support to IT systems including: Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems. Day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for all the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remain involved in the resolution process. Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers. Optimize system operations and resource utilization and perform system capacity analysis and planning. Configure and manage UNIX and Windows (or other applicable) operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity of and configure network components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance. Installs and configures Linux systems including back-end databases and scripts. **This role requires 100% on-site support M-F** Qualifications Required Qualifications: Active/current TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required. Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of relevant Systems Administrator experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree. Current/valid DoD 8570 compliance with IAT Level II is required. Familiarity with Linux system administration experience in a Linux environment (Linux, Redhat Linux, CentOS). Familiar with patching and updating Linux operating systems. Ability to perform back-end IT support, installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux operating systems. Desired Qualifications: Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. A current/valid Linux Certification in one or more of the following: CompTIA Linux+, GIAC Certified UNIX Security Administrator (GCUX), Linux Foundation Certified Engineer (LFCE), Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator, Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Oracle Certified Specialist (OCS), or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA). Experience in Linux automation using Ansible. Experience in Creating and using Containers in a Linux Environment. Experience with scripting in Python, Linux shell. Experience with Network Scripting: Python, Java, JavaScript, Perl, Unix, BASH, C#, C++, SQL. Salary Range Estimates: The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees.
