Overview ABOUT THE POSITION Senior Environmental Scientist/Project Manager | Watertown or Worcester, MA offices | Part-time VHB's growing Natural Science team is looking to add a Senior Environmental Scientist/Project Manager on a part-time basis to support current & future projects. This position is a combination of work in the field and office, providing excellent growth opportunity within a vibrant team of professionals with great flexibility. Responsibilities: Lead local, state, and federal wetland permitting applications and assists with public involvement activities Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish needs and discuss permitting issues Work within or lead a team of professionals to conduct a wide array of ecological, wildlife and water resources related studies and analysis for a multitude of environmental, land development and energy (transmission and renewables) projects (e.g., wetland functional assessments, wildlife habitat evaluations, and rare species surveys) Conduct detailed and robust alternatives analyses to support permit applications Data analysis and technical report writing Conduct and be capable of leading a team in the field delineating wetlands and watercourses on various project sites and for a variety of market sectors in accordance with state and federal procedures This position includes field work in all seasons This position includes travel for site visits Skills & Abilities: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills as this position will require regular coordination with clients, agencies/officials, subconsultants, and colleagues in other office locations Ability to think critically and solve problems Must have experience reading and understanding engineering site plans Experience with complex projects preferred Ability to work confidently and independently on highly active construction sites Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to grow professionally Experience with coastal resource area delineation and permitting a plus Experience with establishing and monitoring budgets and assist with proposal writing a plus Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in environmental science, natural resources, wetland science, soil science, ecological sciences, or related field preferred. 5-8 years of professional environmental consulting experience, including experience conducting wetland delineations and state and federal natural resource permitting required 8-11 years of environmental consulting experience preferred We are VHB!
