Description Duties and Responsibilities: $5000 Signing Bonus Receive repair orders from Production Manager and verify customer complaint. Road test vehicle with customer to verify a complaint in which you cannot verify. Perform work as outlined on repair estimate with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards. Diagnose cause of malfunction and perform repair after Production Manager approval. Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts. Save tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer. Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required. (NOTE: visual inspection only and Road Test) Advise Production Manager immediately if additional work is needed, if work outline is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time period. Document all work performed (on Estimate) as per factory and dealership & Insurance standards, for every repair on the work order. This includes the "no problem found" and what we did to verify complaint, i.e., road tests or checks. Road test vehicles when required as per factory and dealership & Insurance standards, keeping in mind that customers' vehicles should not be used for "PERSONAL ERRANDS". Supervise work of any apprentice technicians as assigned. Attend factory sponsored training classes. Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins. Treat customer cars with respect and keep clothes, tools, and equipment clean so that their vehicles do not become unduly soiled or damaged. Customers' cars are kept clean and SMOKE FREE. Keep shop neat and clean and be able to account for all dealership owned tools at all times. When in personal contact with any customer, maintain a polite and courteous attitude and refer any problems to the B.A.S.M. or Production Manager. Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes, and proper use of protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses, work shoes, etc.) Road test vehicles to quality check work performed. Advise the Production Manager or B.A.S.M. immediately of any potentially hazardous condition or damaged tools or equipment or building repairs. Maintain a good work attitude and cooperate with fellow employees. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or the equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. A.S.E. certification preferred. General mechanical skills. Valid driver's license and good driving records. Must have own hand and power tools. Positive attitude. WORKING CONDITIONS: The Vehicle Technician will work in an assigned stall with a vehicle lift. This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift, lift parts or supplies weighing up to 100 pounds several times during each shift, and use a lift, hoist and test equipment as needed. S/He will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and handle, tools and equipment. S/He will use hand and power tools. S/He will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Road testing of vehicles will be required. The Vehicle Technician will be required to wear a dealership uniform at all times.
