Surgical services include general, thoracic, reconstructive and cardiovascular. Imaging technology designed specifically for children provides advanced diagnostic services including Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and MRI. The Children's Hospital of Michigan Emergency Department is a verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and dedicated pediatric burn center. Experts in pediatric critical care, rehabilitation, and neonatal and perinatal medicine provide care for thousands of children every year at Children's Hospital of Michigan, Children's Hospital of Michigan - Troy and six ambulatory sites. Position Summary: Under general direction, develops, implements, and maintains the information system in the operating room. Coordinates all information and network administration including the technical aspects, data analysis and preparation of management reports. Collaborates with inter-departmental support system. 1. Coordinates the development, implementation and maintenance of the information system in the operating room (OR). Monitors OR systems and the implementation of new systems for effectiveness and efficiency. Analyzes computer needs for OR and other departmental interfaces, recommending revisions and/or modifications. Utilizes computer system to develop, maintain and update data bases used to manage and extract data for statistical reporting. Serves as administrator of system security rights for staff. 2. Provides orientation and training to department staff to ensure staff can utilize computer systems. Coordinates and trains department ancillary support personnel in utilizing the OR information system. Maintains all system user documentation and procedures; instructs system users in data input and retrieval Develops policies and procedures; communicates system changes and/or upgrades to users. Ensures quality and cost effective work within areas of responsibility. 3. Schedules, assigns and oversees the work of designated support staff. Evaluates and recommends discipline and/or discharge of subordinate personnel, as needed. Utilizes experience-based knowledge to provide service and leadership. 4. Develops a variety of reports regarding departmental operations; analyzes detailed information and submits findings for use in planning/improving department operations. Assists with establishing ongoing systems for monitoring department performance and the development of the surgery scheduling process to ensure optimal utilization of the operating room. 5. Troubleshoots and coordinates hardware and software problem resolution. Maintains contact with hardware/software vendors to order preventative maintenance and necessary repairs. 6. Regularly communicates with a variety of hospital personnel to gather data, communicate operational changes and/or resolve problems. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: 1. Associate's degree in business, computer science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2. Two to three years progressively more responsible computer related experience required, preferably within an OR environment, to be familiar with surgical case scheduling and supply and inventory maintenance.
