About the Role: Are you an experienced Veterinary Nurse with an interest in working in an Emergency & Critical Care Department? The Emergency & Critical Care Nurse is responsible for providing outstanding patient care and exceptional client service while working with doctors to address patient care needs. Thrive in an environment that encourages education and continues to grow within the profession, with opportunities to be a mentor to newer team members.Responsibilities: Triage of stable and critical animals.Obtaining patient municate effectively with clients regarding patient history, treatment estimates, admitting, and discharging of patients.Restrain animals for examinations, procedures and treatments.Prepare prescriptions as ordered by the doctor: Appropriate container, labeling, directions, and warnings.Prepare and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the doctor.Perform venipuncture.Place IV catheters.Perform laboratory procedures and prepare specimens being sent to outside laboratories.Perform radiography.Perform suture and staple removal.Provide basic care: feeding, bathing, and nail trims.Maintain cleanliness and order in work areas. Perform basic kennel duties as required.Basic inventory and stocking duties as required.Perform CPR and administer emergency drugs under DVM guidance.Ensure that all charges are entered for procedures and treatments you municate effectively and efficiently with doctors and clients regarding their patients' needs.Knowledge of drug puter entry skills (invoicing, prescriptions, MRE's). Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Veterinary technician experience is required. Licensure is required. Basic customer service skills required. Basic computer skills are necessary.Special Position Requirements: Weekend and holiday shifts are a requirement for this position.Physical Effort: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, stand, stoop, walk, talk, and listen; may require extended periods of time on your feet. Required to lift up to forty pounds.
