Job Title: Product EngineerLocation: Burlington, NCEmployment Type: Full-timeThe Product Engineer plays a pivotal role in driving innovation and launching new textile products into manufacturing. This individual will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, manage product development projects, and ensure customer needs are met while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. The Product Engineer will be hands-on, working with technical experts, suppliers, and global partners to refine processes and bring new products to market. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented, proactive engineer ready to make a lasting impact in a fast-paced, cutting-edge environment.Responsibilities:Lead and manage product development projects from concept to manufacturing, ensuring alignment with customer and company requirements.Collaborate with technical teams, suppliers, and operators to optimize material selection and production processes for new textile products.Coordinate and execute Design of Experiments (DOEs), testing, and validation to ensure products meet performance standards and compliance requirements.Serve as the main point of contact for design, business development, and technical teams, facilitating effective communication throughout the product development lifecycle.Provide regular updates to stakeholders, including executives and program management, on project progress and key milestones.Develop and maintain product documentation, including test plans and technical specifications, to support successful product launches.Participate in stage-gate reviews and ensure alignment of product engineering activities with Shawmut's OKRs.Collaborate with global teams to ensure consistency in product development and manufacturing processes.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, or a related technicalengineering field.1-3 years of experience in product development, engineering, or technical roles, preferably in textiles or materials innovation.Strong understanding of product development lifecycle, with experience in new product commercialization.Hands-on approach and ability to collaborate with technical teams, suppliers, and operators in a manufacturing environment.Proficiency in statistical analysis tools such as Minitab or JMP, with experience in Design of Experiments (DOE) and validation testing.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to coordinate across global teams and various departments.Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is a plus.About Us: Shawmut Corporation pioneers textile innovation, delivering high-performance materials for Automotive, Health & Safety, Defense, and Custom Laminating Solutions.
