General Summary:Manufacturing Tooling Engineer performs assignments of beginner to intermediate complexity under the general direction of the Tooling Design Engineering Supervisor. Responsible for developing and implementing production tooling design and fabrication plans. May assist in tooling development and production of tooling, fixtures, and machinery. This role will coordinate with other departments, outside organizations, customers, and suppliers, to ensure projects complete on time, at the expected quality level and at the lowest cost. The Manufacturing Tooling Engineer will also recommend and implement continuous improvement ideas. This may include working from engineering design documents, specifications, prototypes andor change orders to determine specific tooling needs or process improvements.Duties and Responsibilities:1. Manage the implementation of production tooling2. Assist in coordination of the manufacturing launch of newrevised tooling3. Supports work specific to Production Engineering Tooling Department4. Coordinate efforts with relevant Production Engineering team members to resolve any tooling related issues in a timely manner5. Participate in tooling design projects and may coordinate tasksprocedures with other Production Engineering team members6. Conduct RCCA for tooling improvement, defects and discrepancies, record and evaluate data and report findings7. Work with engineers and other personnel on continuous improvement projects as required8. Leads overall project, including budgets and outside suppliers and contractors9. Provide technical support and assistance with the development and improvement of tooling10. Present Tooling Design package to tooling fab team and assist in implementing any discrepancies before placement into service11. Review Tooling designs and develop fabrication plans12. Support Manufacturing Engineers during Tooling first run process, document results13. Create andor modify Tooling procedural documents as necessary for improvement14. Work with ME's to establish build plan around needed tooling for future projects15. Promote and contribute to overall team environment16. Any other duties assigned by managementEducation, Work Experience, Certification andor Licensure:1. Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace engineering or other closely related technical field is preferred2. In lieu of degree, minimum 5 years Manufacturing Engineering related experience includingmechanical andor composite, systems assembly, and machining experience.3. MachiningFabrication experience a plus4. Strong Knowledge of industry standards, processes and specifications related to aircraft5. Strong communication skills6. Basic CATIA V5 experience is a plus7. Basic knowledge of designdrafting practices8. Basic to intermediate level GD&T proficiency in readingunderstanding engineering drawingsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:1. Working knowledge of aircraft assembly, sequencing and manufacturing flowPhysical Requirements:1. Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, andor aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.2. Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.3. Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).4.
