Emergency Room Registered Nurses (ER RNs) are responsible for providing acute and emergency care to patients who are experiencing life-threatening or potentially life-threatening conditions. They work in high-stress, fast-paced environments and must be able to think critically and make quick decisions to ensure patient safety and wellbeing. Some specific tasks of an ER RN include: 1. Assessing patients' conditions, including taking vital signs, history, and performing physical exams 2. Developing and implementing individualized care plans for patients, including administering medications and treatments 3. Monitoring patients for changes in condition and taking appropriate action as needed 4. Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to diagnose and treat patients 5. Operating and monitoring medical equipment, such as IV pumps and cardiac monitors 6. Keeping accurate records of patient care and communicating with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care 7. Providing education and emotional support to patients and their families Education and certification requirements for ER RNs include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state where they work. Many ER RNs also obtain certifications, such as Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), to enhance their skills and qualifications for working in emergency care environments. This is a not full time but contracted travel position.
