Company Description Job Description The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Equity and Inclusion is responsible for overall organizational development and implementation of the New York City Police Department's Equity and Inclusion programs and strategic framework. The goal of the Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) is to foster equity through policy and regulation, both in and out of the workplace, and to increase supplier diversity for the New York City Police Department (NYPD). This is accomplished through transparency and accountability by applying nationwide best practices with our internal and external stakeholders. The Office of Equity and Inclusion is looking for a College Aide to join our Equitable Access Unit. This role will focus on supporting and ensuring accessibility and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). College Aides will work closely with the ADA Coordinator and Disability Service Facilitator (DSF) to assist in various aspects of ADA compliance, including policy development, accessibility audits, and community outreach. As a College Aide, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that ensure equitable access for individuals with disabilities. Your responsibilities will include conducting research, conducting accessibility assessments, and assisting with ADA training and education programs. You will also contribute to broader diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the organization. Key Responsibilities: -Program Development and Implementation: Support the creation and execution of equitable programs specifically focused on ADA and Language Access. -Stakeholder Engagement: Interact with both internal and external stakeholders, including coordinating with the Mayor's Office of Disability. -Research and Analysis: Conduct research on ADA, Language Access, and ASL initiatives and present findings. -Administrative Tasks: Handle various administrative duties within the Office of Equity and Inclusion. -Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively across teams and provide support on ad hoc projects. -Unit Coordination: Collaborate closely with both the Equitable Access Unit and Programs and Engagement Unit Candidates with diverse experiences and who have knowledge of multiple languages are encouraged to apply. WORK LOCATION:375 Pearl Street, 15th Floor/Suite 4, NY, NY 10038 WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, Tours between 0900 and 1700 hours Qualifications For Assignment Level I: Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school. For Assignment Level II (Information Technology): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications. SPECIAL NOTE Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.
