Come join our growing company at our fabulous new office located in the Guilderland / Albany area! We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to assist in all activities regarding the management of employee compensation at Carver Companies. As Payroll Manager, you will act as the front line and primary point of contact for employees who have payroll-related questions or concerns, escalating unresolved or non-routine matters to the Payroll Director. You will undertake a variety of tasks daily such as entering payroll information, calculating wages and making payments. Confidentiality, strong attention to detail, and mathematical skills are key to success in this position. The ideal candidate will be a thorough professional with good communication skills. The goal is to carry out all payroll procedures with both speed and accuracy and resolve any issues in an expeditious manner. Prior experience with full-cycle in-house payroll processing is strongly preferred. Payroll Associate Responsibilities: • Primary point-of-contact for employees (phone calls, emails, in-person questions) • Collect and verify timekeeping information for employees • Calculate pay according to hours worked incorporating leaves and overtime • Data entry, scanning, keeping the payroll offices clean, neat and organized • Calculate taxes and deductions • Initiate periodical payments (such as garnishments, child support, and similar) timely either through requests to A/P for checks or making payments through online portals • Issue pay statements, mail paper checks, W-2's, etc. • Maintain complete employee personnel files, I-9 files, etc. • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll; escalate as necessary • Prepare and submit reports with payroll information as needed or required Payroll Manager Skills and Qualifications: • Proven experience as a senior level payroll clerk or manager. Prior experience with full-cycle in-house payroll processing is strongly preferred. We process payroll in-house; we do not send data out for processing • Familiarity with general accounting principles • Experience in data collection, entry and reporting with great attention to detail and confidentiality • Solid knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and regulations. Experience with multi-state payroll, shift differentials, travel pay, incentives and bonuses, Canadian payroll, NYS prevailing wage, etc. all a big plus • Computer savvy with working knowledge of relevant software or ability to quickly learn.
