The University of Virginia's Health System Physical Plant Zone 3, within Facilities Management (FM), invites applications for an HVAC Assistant who will provide assistance in the Refrigeration Shop. HVAC Assistants work with HVAC Mechanics performing HVAC repairs and they work independently as appropriate, clean job sites, train on more advanced installations and emergency repairs, and follow all customer service and safety protocols. Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of UVA's buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties. Duties include: Assist skilled journey level mechanics in performing routine HVAC system maintenance, preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, assessing problems, undertaking corrective actions, and site cleanup. Develop an increasing knowledge of types of HVAC tools, materials and equipment used in University facilities. Maintain accurate records on time tickets, job requests, and work orders. Determine material and equipment for specific jobs, as well as initiate procurement. Maintain compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations. Use personal safety equipment as instructed, and act in accordance with safety guidelines. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Qualifications: High School diploma or Equivalent One year of relevant work experience preferred. Experience working in a hospital or clinical environment is strongly preferred. Compensation: Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.00 - $20.00 ($33,280 - $41,600 per year). T his is a full-time position with UVA benefits .
