Description of Services This position involves providing psychiatric care to patients under the supervision of the Psychiatric Medical Director. The CRNP must be certified as a Mental Health CRNP or be willing to become certified within 2 years of hire. The Psychiatric CRNP will assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients with mental health disorders. This position includes collaboration with an on-site RN as well as two psychiatry program assistants. Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities Conduct Psychiatric Evaluations: Assess the mental health of patients through interviews, observations, and review of medical histories. Prescribe Medications and Treatments: Develop treatment plans and prescribe medications to manage mental health conditions. Collaborate/Consult with Healthcare Team: Work closely with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care. Provide Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options. Education Requirements One of the following education requirements must be met: Required: Master's degree in nursing or related field Active Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) license or obtain certification within 2 years of hire. Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric care Ability to prescribe medications Preferred: Certification as a PMHNP-BC Experience working with diverse patient populations Strong interpersonal and communication skills Other Qualifications All necessary child abuse clearances (PA Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and Federal Criminal History Clearance) Valid driver's license Auto insurance General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Knowledge of psychiatric principles and practices Ability to conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments Understanding of mental health disorders and treatments Proficiency in electronic medical records systems Working Conditions The Psychiatric CRNP will primarily work in a clinical setting, interacting with patients and healthcare professionals. Physical Requirements Constantly Incurred (More than 75% of time on job) - ability to communicate orally and in writing, ability to hear conversations, ability to observe behavior, ability to analyze actions and behaviors Frequently Incurred (Between 25% - 75% of time on job) - ability to stand, ability to walk, ability to sit, ability to drive (in order to make home visits), ability use legs/arms to climb, ability to balance Occasionally Incurred (Less than 25% of time on job) - ability to lift, ability to work in hot (between 90-100 degrees) and cold (below 55 degrees) temperatures, exposure to intermittent noise above 85DB, exposure to chemicals (cleaning) This job description is intended to cover the information essential to understanding the scope of the job, and the general nature and level of work performed by job holders within this job.
