Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety Manager Department Name: Safety Reports to (title): Corporate Quality Control Manager Job Summary: The Environmental Health & Safety Manager will ensure we are a leader in safety protocols and in compliance with all industry and government safety and environmental regulations for multiple locations. In this role, the manager will also audit our worksites and follow up to ensure that the team has complied with any previously made recommendations and/or corrected any violations. This position is essential to the well-being of our employees and our company. Essential Job Functions: Overall responsibility is to lead program improvements related to the safety program, environmental compliance, safety training and site security. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including those set by OSHA and the EPA. Conduct regular safety compliance audits with and without third party safety compliance consultants. Follow up to make sure the team has corrected any workplace violations. Conduct accident investigations, assess root cause, and implement safety protocols to deter repeat accidents. Implement internal policies to support employee health and safety. Implement internal training programs so all employees are trained on proper safety protocols. Work with third party worker's comp consultants to help keep accident $$ reserves and duration of pending worker's comp cases to a minimum. Follow regulatory reporting requirements. Manages PPE, Safety, and environmental programs. Maintain plant Material Safety Data Sheets program and facilitate development of programs that empower employee participation in all areas. Requirements Required Skills & Abilities: Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety; master's preferred Knowledge of industry regulations Manufacturing experience in the industry (strongly preferred) Experience in investigations and casual analysis of occupational illnesses, injuries, and accidents. Experience or education in industrial hygiene, industrial safety, and environmental protection Ability and willingness to travel within the U.S. as needed (not to exceed 20%). Bilingual communication skills preferred (English/Spanish) Excellent Organizational skills Highly self-motivated and ability to multi-task. Sound knowledge of OSHA regulations, Workers Compensation, and other related legislation. Strong interpersonal skills Knowledge and effective use of Microsoft Office software products such Word and Excel Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Commitment to company values Physical Requirements: Safety glasses, ear plugs, and safety shoes are 'Required' in most facilities. Employee must have the ability to be on one's feet and walk around the plant. Employee will be working indoors most of the time and outdoors occasionally. Workplace environment will feature both hot and cold temperatures. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. occasionally.
