Location: 2700 Greens Road, Houston, Texas, 77032 (adjacent to George Bush Intercontinental Airport) Abby's Catering has been providing one-of-a-kind culinary and hospitality experience since opening in 1980. Our customers are high profile passengers visiting or residing in Houston. Celebrities, government officials, head of states, secretaries, industry leaders, all traveling out of Houston aboard private, corporate, and commercial aircrafts are part of Abby's valued circle of customers. Abby's also provides exclusive gourmet delights for corporate offices, private and corporate events as well as food service management contracts. Position: The Transportation Manager at Abby's Catering will oversee all aspects of our commercial airline transportation operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement and delivery of goods and services. This role is critical in maintaining our high standards of service and ensuring timely deliveries to our airline partners. Reports to: Director of Operations To him/her report: Flight Coordinators, Drivers, Loaders Requirements, but not limited to: This position requires flexible work schedules within a 24/7 work environment. The airline catering industry is a seasonal business and certain peak times of the year are black out periods for PTO (paid time off), e.g. year end, summer. Essential functions: Leadership, Management and Accountability Ensure complete and on time deliveries for all IAH flights and DFW shuttle operations Monitor aircraft arrival and departure times Dispatch flight coordinators and driver and vehicles according to aircraft movements Oversee the preparation and distribution of all flight relevant documentation (e.g. boarding bill, loading diagram, packing labels etc.) Must acquire knowledge of all customer's aircraft types and configurations, menu cycles and trolley / carrier assembly, final pre-flight check, and aircraft loading Manage all out of regular schedule situations like aircraft deviations, cancellations, late arrivals, overlapping arrivals, gate services etc. Assist the team with catering deliveries to the aircrafts Train, develop and certify drivers and flight coordinators on ramp safety, catering vehicle operations, and aircraft door opening procedures Ensure proper use of Abby's Aircraft Catering uniforms always Perform airside A-1 ramp safety audits to ensure all relevant SOP's are being followed Ensures that all employees are in compliance with TSA, CBP, and Airport Authority security and badging requirements Responsible to ensure the commercial airline catering transportation fleet is maintained to company standards (using external service providers and internal maintenance resources), including regular interior and exterior cleaning Cost tracking and archiving all catering high-loader repairs for future airline audits Respond to airline customer internal safety audits Foster good relationship with all local station Managers, Deputies and Operation Agents Responsible for safety, quality, and compliance with airline customer & regulatory requirements as well as company policies and procedures Meet or exceed all financial goals related to labor utilization and expenses Mapping out and calculating scenarios and operational flow charts according to customer flight schedule changes and / or new business onboarding Prepare management reports (ex. Incident reports, labor reports, mileage and fuel consumption reports, etc.) as required Develop and retain employees Responsible for performance evaluation, coaching, counseling, and preparing corrective action for employees and liaises appropriately with HR and other supporting departments. Requirements Qualifications: 3-5 years of experience in transportation management or a related role (airline catering experience is a big plus) Ability to pass TSA, CBP, and Airport Authority security screening to obtain access to airside operations (airport badge - 10 years federal background check). Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, including DOT and OSHA requirements. Ability to work with multiple departments to ensure a smooth flow of work from start to final on time delivery to aircraft. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Familiar with MS Office applications, especially EXCEL. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Bilingual English / Spanish is a big plus.
