GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Field Service Supervisor or Manager, installs, maintains, and repairs HORIBA supplied equipment at customer locations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Installs, Repairs and Maintains HORIBA products at customer sites. 2. At least 75% Travel and ability to obtain passport and Travel outside US as needed. 3. Balance of time spent between home and field. 4. Provides technical assistance to customers and Horiba departments, including parts, technical questions, and application support. 5. When not directly working on a work order, an engineer may help with preparing quotations, RMAs, or RMAs customer support 6. Is able to maintain more than one product with minimal or no external support 7. Helps create technical documentation with support of technical writer. 8. Complete work orders and Field Service Reports with sufficient detail and timeliness for customer invoicing, warranty charges, labor and materials charges, and policy. 9. Maintain notes in the customer service database (Service Max). Skills Demonstrated By: 1. Ability to effectively and professionally deal with customers and co-workers, as evidenced by two or more years of customer service-related experience. 2. Ability to work with little or no direct supervision. 3. Ability to efficiently and accurately perform installations and repairs on scientific instruments and willingness to learn HORIBA instruments. 4. Self motivated and eager to learn 5. Should have an electronics/optical or technical background. 6. Ability to work proficiently with PC Software and Hardware (Operating system, Drivers, System Settings) able to replace PC hardware (hard drive, USB Board, Memory, Power supply) 7. They need to be able to think on their feet and troubleshoot complex scenarios 8. Experience with Service Max or similar, Salesforce, and/or SAP is a plus 9. Associates degree or equivalent experience in a technical field. 10. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel or similar. 11. Good communications skills 12. Must be able to routinely lift 50 pounds.
